Prince William Set to Attend COP30 Climate Summit in Brazil

The Prince of Wales will represent the COP30 climate summit in South America during November, as announced by palace sources.

Prince William and King Charles appeared together on Thursday night at a gathering ahead of the environmental conference, which is scheduled to take place in the northern Brazilian city of Belem.

The royal pair were participating in the scientific institution event, marking an rare public appearance together at a environmental conference preliminary meeting arranged together with the UK government.

Environmental Advocacy Dedication

The King has been a long-time champion of environmental conservation - and Prince William has assumed the responsibility, with his own climate innovation awards, which will be hosted in Rio before the climate conference.

Official representatives have described Prince William's attendance at the forthcoming conference as taking on an crucial position in "environmental negotiations".

Previous Activities

The monarch and his heir, arriving together in the official car, were introduced to participants featuring conservation experts, scientists, environmental activists, diplomats and politicians.

This involvement included speaking alongside President Emmanuel Macron of the French Republic and other world leaders at the Blue Economy and Finance Forum in Monaco during the current year.

The COP30 summit will align with the the royal's sustainability recognition program, which will conclude in the Brazilian city the day before he participates in the COP summit on 6 November.

King Charles has been a prominent presence at past COP meetings, giving the opening address in the United Arab Emirates for the 28th Conference of Parties, including the observation: "We are custodians of the planet, not its owners".

"For decades I've committed a significant amount of my life trying to raise awareness about the critical dangers challenging our world over planetary heating, environmental shifts and species extinction," the King told participants.
